Busisiwe Mdletshe started her career as a trainee accountant in 2005 serving her articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). At PwC she was involved in audits within the Consumer Industrial Product Services Division. She was also involved in the preparation of the annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Municipalities Finance Management Act (MFMA).

She then joined the Mercantile Bank of Lisbon as a Senior Financial Accountant in the Alliance Business Banking Division. She was involved in the analysis of financial transactions between the alliance partners and the bank. She later joined the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as a Tax Specialist performing intense financial investigations to combat crime in the illicit economy. She was involved in Corporate theft; Pyramid Schemes; Tenders and CITES focus areas. Her work as a specialist primarily involved in-depth investigations in integrated tax (Individual tax, Corporate tax, Employees Tax, International Tax, Research, and Advisory) and audits of the taxpayers’ financial statements. She was later promoted to lead a team of financial investigators and auditors in CITES and Pyramid Schemes focus areas. In this leadership role, she sat in the Pre-Assessment Committee and Objection Committee analyzing the technical tax assessments.

She is currently the CEO at Btmt Capital, responsible for Accounting; Tax and Financial Forensic investigations. In this role she is responsible for brand development – how the company differentiate itself; drafting of company policies; strategic and risk management. She develops business strategies and set the direction. She decides on target market, and how to survive against the competitors. She sets budgets, forms partnerships, and hires a team to steer the company accordingly.

She also sits as a Tax Advisor at Inkunzi Investments responsible for Tax Advisory and Tax Planning on investment choices for the High Net Worth Individuals and Corporates. In this role, she offers complete tax solution tailored to the clients’ needs. As a Tax Partner she helps clients understand their rights as taxpayers as per the Tax Administration Act, advises on the importance of tax planning;  identifies tax saving opportunities; suggest ways to legally avoid costly tax; deals with the taxation of foreign income following the residence basis of taxation as well as the implications of capital gains tax; fully examines the tax impact of investment and retirement decisions; rigorously defines the tax and foreign exchange implications of offshore investments;

Busisiwe also sits as a Senior Tax & Audit Advisor at Growthmap. She advises the audit team on tax and audit matters relating to Economic Sustainability. In this role she is currently working with the Executive team of Growthmap in Non-Profit Organizations Sustainability Rating. The aim of this rating tool is to assist Funders in gaining assurance that the funded NPOs use the funding for the intended purpose. Together they have successfully run a pilot project with Nedbank Foundation.

Busisiwe also sits as a Board Member (Finance Position) at The Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa. She advises the Board Committee on finance matters, i.e. how to remain a financial stable organization; fundraising projects and issues tax compliance and financial management.
