Stefano Fabeni (LLM, J.D.) is the Managing Director of the Global Initiative for Sexuality and Human Rights, based in Washington, DC. Mr. Fabeni has previously worked as Director of the LGBTI Initiative for Global Rights – Partners for Justice, with LGBT grassroots activists in over 13 countries that works to build activists’ capacity to plan and execute rights and advocacy strategies. Mr. Fabeni served as the Italian member of the European Group of Experts on Combating Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation. He was the conceiver and the coordinator of the Center of Research and Legal Comparative Studies on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (CERSGOSIG) EU-funded project CERSGOSIG-InformaGay, as well as its project’s director, running the center’s legal database on sexual orientation and gender identity. He has served for several years as a pro bono legal advisor and consultant of the New Rights Department of the national trade union Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (Italian Labor General Confederation). Mr. Fabeni also has served as a consultant and legal expert for members of the Italian Parliament, institutions, consultancy firms and NGOs throughout Europe, as well as for the World Health Organization.
