Simonia Mashangoane joined ISLA in September 2022 as the Partnerships Coordinator for the Call to Action Coalition. She was previously the Project Coordinator the Wits Justice Project which investigated miscarriages of justice in the criminal justice system. She has over 15 years’ civil society experience doing monitoring and evaluation, research, advocacy and programme coordination. She has worked for a number of social movements in South Africa advocating for access to health care services, justice and the promotion of human rights. Simonia hopes to merge her passion for citizen participation and state accountability with her studies in Economics and Development.
