I was engaged in the pilot phase of the ISLA Strategic Litigation Training (2017 – 2019). It has enriched my skills and capacity to be able to identify strategic litigation matters in women issues. I have learnt the importance of applying a feminist lens when handling matters of women rights violations. Additionally, I am now able to dissect seemingly gender-neutral laws and to surface gendered bias within the law. Further, my engagement with ISLA has given me an opportunity to network with other women lawyers thereby creating a space to share knowledge, case strategies and referral of cases. I have sharpened my skills in litigation, research and advocacy in women rights issues. I would recommend the ISLA Strategic Litigation Training to any women rights lawyer seeking to use strategic litigation as a tool to create social change in Africa.
