AU reforms Strategy Consultation 11-13 August 2025

Between 11–13 August 2025, ISLA and its co-conveners, the Centre for Human Rights (University of Pretoria), the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA), Synergia, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights (RFK), and African Renaissance, convened the CSO Strategy Consultation on AU Reforms in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting brought together representatives of civil society organisations, feminist movements, academic institutions, youth groups, sexual minority groups, member states, and AU organs, including the Office of the Legal Counsel, Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC), the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, alongside other partners, to deliberate on the ongoing African Union (AU) Reforms process and its implications for civil society and the African Human Rights System (AHRS).

Du 11 au 13 août 2025, l’ISLA et ses partenaires, le Centre for Human Rights (University of Pretoria), l’Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA), Synergia, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights (RFK), et African Renaissance ont organisé la Consultation stratégique des OSC sur les réformes de l’UA à Nairobi, au Kenya. La réunion a rassemblé des représentants d’organisations de la société civile, de mouvements féministes, d’institutions universitaires, de groupes de jeunes, de groupes de minorités sexuelles, d’État membre et d’organes de l’UA, notamment le Bureau du conseiller juridique, le Conseil économique, social et culturel de l’Union africaine (ECOSOCC), la Cour africaine des droits de l’homme et des peuples et le Comité africain d’experts sur les droits et le bien-être de l’enfant, ainsi que d’autres partenaires, afin de délibérer sur le processus de réforme de l’Union africaine et ses implications pour la société civile et le système africain des droits de l’homme ( SADH).
